Expect intense flavours and beautiful presentation in dishes ranging from Pu Sorn Klin - blue swimmer crab mixed with coriander, pickled garlic, and peanuts served on a rice cracker, Pana Nah Thong Kae - a richly spiced lamb curry accompanied by Thai crepes, and Gung Pad Chakram - river prawns stir-fried in a samphire sauce with garlic, shallots, and peanuts.
Elsewhere, expect quintessential COMO Shambhala Cuisine – thoughtfully crafted, healthy and organic dishes designed to nourish. Breakfast here is a delight, featuring coconut waffles, fresh coconut water, and a mix of Asian and Western options such as stir-fried noodles with chicken and cashew nuts.
WELLNESS FACILITIES
The COMO Shambhala Urban Escape provides a range of treatments and facilities, including a fully equipped fitness centre, yoga studio and a massive outdoor pool. Complimentary morning yoga classes with the marvellous Didi are a particular highlight, setting the tone for the day, while at the Como Shambhala Urban Escape spa, expect traditional Thai herbal full-body treatment that use warm herbal poultices and oil-free Thai massage. After a heavenly stretch, follow up with one of their fresh wellness juices, and you'll float back to your room.VERDICT
This slick Bangkok base delivers chill and charm in spades, delivering exactly what you need after a long-haul flight or day battling the city heat. When you're soaking up the rays by the pool, indulging in a lazy lunch or sinking into one of the heavenly beds after a massage, you'll get why this place has a devoted following. At just over a hundred quid a night including breakfast, it's also excellent value for a five-star retreat.
