Cookson Adventures launches £2 million Odyssey voyage

July 19, 2026

Timed with the release of Christopher Nolan's new film, Cookson Adventures has unveiled an Odyssey superyacht voyage that blends live theatre with mythology and marine conservation across the Greek islands.

Cookson Adventures has unveiled a new UHNW (ultra-high net-worth) private travel experience inspired by Homer's Odyssey, coinciding with the release of Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of the ancient Greek epic.

Called The Odyssey, the seven-day superyacht journey is designed for private groups of up to 12 guests and combines sailing through the Aegean Sea with theatrical performances, interactive storytelling and marine conservation activities. Available from summer 2026, the experience starts from £1.9 million, excluding international flights and yacht APA.

The Odyssey voyage is structured as a narrative adventure rather than a conventional luxury cruise. Guests begin their journey before arriving in Greece, with an audio introduction played onboard their flight. On arrival, they are taken to a private clifftop camp inspired by the Trojan Horse before boarding a sailing superyacht for a route that follows Odysseus' mythical journey home to Ithaca.Black Pearl, Yacht, Exterior, Immersive Odyssey, TO CREDIT_ IYC - Large

Along the way, travellers take part in a series of staged experiences based on episodes from the poem. These include navigating using traditional maps and ancient methods, attending a beach gathering inspired by the Lotus Eaters, dining beneath the stars while operatic performers recreate the Sirens and watching a 500-drone display depicting the Cyclops rising above an ancient temple.

Other highlights include kayaking through a cave transformed into the Underworld, where live performers and musicians recreate Odysseus' encounter with the dead. The voyage ends on Ithaca with guests rowing ashore before attending a homecoming dinner hosted by the character of Penelope.

Professional actors appear throughout the Odyssey voyage, many posing as members of the yacht's crew to maintain the illusion that guests are taking part in the story. The blind prophet Tiresias, a key figure in Greek mythology, also appears repeatedly as a digital projection onto the yacht's sails, guiding the narrative between major scenes.Drone show, Beach, The Odyssey concept illustrations. Alongside the theatrical production, guests are encouraged to take part in a local marine conservation project. Depending on the location, this could involve helping with loggerhead turtle nesting programmes or contributing to dolphin research, linking the experience with environmental work taking place in the region.

A bespoke digital companion also runs throughout the journey, presenting guests with challenges and moral dilemmas inspired by Homer's story. Their decisions build a personalised profile based on qualities such as leadership, bravery, loyalty and wit. At the end of the voyage, each guest receives a journal documenting the route they followed and the choices they made, while one participant is recognised as the group's leader.

Henry Cookson, founder of Cookson Adventures, says: "The Odyssey is one of the great adventure stories, and it is striking how closely it reflects the way we think about modern travel. Every epic journey is ultimately about who you become along the way. With this concept, we have taken that idea as far as possible. Guests will not simply watch the myth unfold; they will live it, make real decisions within it, and leave with something genuinely transformative."Dining setup, Vathy Estate, Immersive Odyssey with Cookson Adventures, AI Render - Medium

To add historical context, Cookson Adventures plans to invite experts including Dr Antony Makrinos, associate professor in classics at University College London, to accompany selected departures. Guests will also be able to attend talks before and after the trip focused on Homer and Greek mythology.

Dr Makrinos says: "Homer's Odyssey is the founding text of Western literature, a journey that has captivated audiences for nearly three millennia and is set to reach an even wider audience with the forthcoming film adaptation by Christopher Nolan.

"Bringing it to life in the very landscapes where the myth unfolds is an extraordinary opportunity. This major production draws on some of my favourite parts from Homer's Odyssey, and I look forward to helping Cookson's guests experience the ancient world in a vivid and modern way."

The launch reflects growing interest in travel experiences that combine entertainment with participation, placing guests inside carefully constructed narratives rather than simply observing them.
