Airbnb is opening Hannah Montana’s Malibu house for a limited series of free stays, giving fans access to the show’s iconic setting and its famous closet as part of a 20th anniversary experience. Jenny Southan reports

Airbnb has announced a new themed home experience that invites guests to stay inside the Hannah Montana Malibu house, as part of celebrations marking 20 years since the Disney series first aired. The initiative offers fans the chance to step into the setting of the show and experience key elements of its storyline in a real-world environment.

Located along Malibu’s coastline, the Hannah Montana Malibu house has been adapted into an immersive stay designed to reflect the character’s double life as both an ordinary teenager and a pop star. The experience centres on recreating the atmosphere of the series, with interiors and activities inspired by the moments that defined the show.

A key feature of the stay is the recreation of Hannah Montana’s closet, which plays a central role in the series. Guests are able to enter the space and interact with a selection of outfits and accessories modelled on the character’s stage wardrobe, including sequined clothing and performance pieces. The design encourages visitors to take part in the transformation narrative that underpins the show.

Beyond the closet, the property includes a range of features intended to mirror the lifestyle portrayed on screen. Guests can spend time on a balcony overlooking the ocean or access the beach directly from the property. Indoor spaces include areas for watching episodes of the series on Disney+ and taking part in karaoke sessions featuring songs from the show.

The overall concept focuses on combining location with storytelling. By placing the experience in Malibu, Airbnb connects the physical setting with the fictional world of the series, reinforcing the idea of a dual identity that moves between everyday life and performance. Design details throughout the house reference the show’s visual style, offering a setting that is recognisable to fans while functioning as a contemporary holiday rental.

Access to the Hannah Montana Malibu house will be limited but free. Airbnb is offering ten one-night stays between April 6 and April 16, 2026, with each booking accommodating up to four guests. Requests to book open on March 26 at 6AM PST. Guests are required to arrange and pay for their own travel to Malibu.

The launch coincides with the release of the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special”, now available on Disney+ and Hulu, reflecting renewed interest in the series and its cultural impact. First broadcast in 2006, the show followed a teenager balancing school life with a secret career as a global pop star, becoming one of Disney Channel’s most recognisable programmes.
