Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives has launched a "Teens Hut" in a bid to boost its reputation as a family-friendly resort.
The newly unveiled space, specifically designed for guests aged 12-17, features teen-friendly amenities including gaming zones with the latest consoles, a mocktail-making bar, movie lounge, outdoor recreational area and a second-floor music studio complete with instruments, a performance stage and karaoke facilities.
Designed through a collaboration between Singapore-based KulörGroup and London-based Muza Lab, the structure takes inspiration from nature with a distinctive clam-like form that harmonises with the island landscape. The interior design incorporates varied textures and colours to stimulate creativity and interaction, key objectives in the space's conceptualisation.
"It's a statement about the future of architecture, one that we hope will inspire young people to make conscious, sustainable choices as they grow," explained Christopher Chua, co-founder & creative director at KulörGroup.
Constructed primarily from sustainable bamboo, the eco-friendly design aims to inspire younger generations to care for the planet.
To maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the resort, the hub features silent equipment and headphones, allowing teens to enjoy activities without disturbing other guests.
Steven Phillips, general manager at the resort, says: "With the introduction of our brand-new Teens Hut programme, Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives is building on the Kaleidoscope of Life concept that is embodied in every aspect of our resort, encouraging a diversity in the guest's experience through activities that are immersive and educational, but also playful and full of vibrant energy."
The resort has developed an extensive activity programme for teenage guests, including both bookable experiences like windsurfing, catamaran sailing lessons, and snorkelling excursions with the resort's marine biologist, as well as open events such as games, movie nights, karaoke sessions, themed dinners and beach bonfires.
Stays at Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives start from £389 per night.
