Emirates adds privacy screens to new premium economy seats
Emirates is introducing electrically adjustable, full-height privacy screens to premium economy, alongside wireless charging and new 4K entertainment screens.
In a world first, Dubai-based airline Emirates has unveiled a new premium economy seat with an electrically adjustable, full-height privacy screen between every passenger.
The airline says it is the first electrically powered premium economy seat to offer a full-height privacy divider. It will debut on newly delivered Airbus A350 aircraft.
Passengers can raise or lower the screen using their seat controls and lock it into position, offering more separation from their neighbour while working, eating or sleeping.

The A350 premium economy cabin will have 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. Each seat is up to 20 inches wide with up to 39 inches of pitch and can be adjusted electrically, including dedicated lounge and meal settings.
Seats recline into a cradle position without moving into the space of the passenger behind. They also feature Safran Seats' U-Dream adjustable leather headrest and a manually operated leather footrest.
Emirates is adding wireless charging to premium economy for the first time, alongside USB-C charging. Tray tables have an integrated phone holder, allowing passengers to position their device as a second screen.
In-flight entertainment is provided through a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen featuring Emirates' Ice system. Newly delivered A350s will also have additional exterior camera views from the left and right sides of the aircraft, joining existing forward and downward cameras.
The changes bring several features more commonly associated with business class into premium economy, reflecting growing competition between airlines to differentiate the cabin between economy class and business class.
Emirates is also making changes to its premium economy drinks offering. From October, Wiston Estate Brut NV will become the airline's first English sparkling wine and will be served exclusively in premium economy on UK routes.
Other wines being introduced include Chablis Premier Cru Jean-Marc Brocard 2024 and La Parde de Haut-Bailly 2014 on selected routes. Emirates says it has invested more than US$1 billion in its wine portfolio since 2006.
Meals in premium economy are served on Royal Doulton china with Robert Welch cutlery and linen napkins.
On long-haul flights, passengers also receive reusable amenity kits created with United for Wildlife. The bags use bio-based materials, including alternatives to leather made with cactus, and contain Aveda skincare alongside socks, eyeshades, earplugs and a dental kit.
Emirates launched premium economy in 2022 and has since been expanding the cabin across its fleet. The product is now available across all markets currently served by its A350 aircraft.
