Today's teenagers, as digital natives, seek experiences that are both Instagram-worthy and authentically engaging - and InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has responded with a comprehensive teen-focused programme.

The new initiative includes trendy activities such one-to-one cooking masterclasses, mocktail creation sessions, and iced coffee making tutorials that appeal to Generation Z's sophisticated tastes while encouraging offline social interaction.

Active teens can participate in water-based activities including snorkelling, catamaran sailing lessons, and diving certification courses.

Environmental education plays a key role in the programme, with "Manta Teen Talks" and climate warrior sessions offering hands-on experiences such as reef cleaning and tree planting. InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau ResortFor socialising, the resort organises group activities including teen-only barbecues, fishing trips, yoga sessions, "dance tok" (where a dance instructor teaches teens moves inspired by the latest TikTok trends) and private beach movie screenings.

The resort has also introduced a dedicated "young spa" featuring treatments specifically tailored for teenagers. Cultural activities include lessons in traditional Maldivian Boduberu drumming and various arts and crafts sessions.

While many activities are offered complimentarily, some experiences carry additional charges based on the activity type and number of participants.

Accommodation at the resort starts from US$1,055++ per night in an Overwater Sunrise Pool villa, including breakfast for two guests.InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau ResortResorts that overlook teenagers miss a crucial opportunity. These young guests occupy a unique social space - too mature for children's clubs yet not quite ready for adult activities - and their satisfaction can make or break a family holiday.

When properly catered to, teens not only find the independence and peer socialisation they crave, but their contentment creates a ripple effect of relaxation throughout the family unit.

Moreover, resorts that successfully navigate this demographic sweet spot often find themselves with a powerful market differentiator, as families specifically seek out properties that can keep their teenagers entertained.

Perhaps most strategically, these young guests represent future adult travellers who, if impressed during their formative years, may become loyal customers for decades to come.
