JetBlue unveils BlueFirst for premium US domestic flyers

September 3, 2026

JetBlue has unveiled BlueFirst, a domestic first class product with Tuft and Needle seating, on-screen cocktail ordering and bento-style meals.

BlueFirst will begin appearing on JetBlue aircraft later in 2026, with bookings opening this autumn. The cabin is designed for routes that do not currently offer JetBlue's Mint premium product and will eventually be available across the airline's domestic network where Mint is not offered.

The seats will be arranged in a 2-2 configuration and feature five inches of recline and up to seven inches more legroom than JetBlue's Main economy class seats.

JetBlue has partnered with mattress company Tuft and Needle to develop the product, which use its T&N Flex foam. The material is designed to provide support and pressure relief and will be exclusive to JetBlue.JetBlue BlueFirstJetBlue BlueFirst

“Customers told us loud and clear that comfort matters most, so that’s where we started. We worked with Tuft & Needle to create an added level of comfort that makes BlueFirst feel different from the moment you sit down,” says Joanna Geraghty, CEO of JetBlue.

Each seat will have a 13.3-inch entertainment screen with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing passengers to connect their own wireless headphones. The screens will run the latest version of Blueprint by JetBlue, the airline's personalised inflight entertainment platform.

Power will be provided through USB-A, USB-C and 110VAC connections at every seat. Passengers will also have complimentary Fly-Fi high-speed internet from gate to gate. On overnight services, BlueFirst passengers will receive a blanket and sleep kit.JetBlue BlueFirst

Technology will also play a role in the food and drink service. Passengers will be able to order from their seatback screens, including selecting meals and browsing products available onboard. An interactive "Mixologist Mode" will allow travellers to build their own cocktail by selecting a spirit, mixer and flavourings on screen. The order is then sent directly to the cabin crew.

BlueFirst's meal service will be called FirstFare. On flights of 899 miles or more, meals will be served in a custom bento-inspired box containing an entrée, side and dessert. Options will include sweet or savoury crêpes and sesame noodles served with either beef or tofu.

Premium snacks will be offered throughout flights, with a rotating selection from brands including Sockerbit, Tosi, Wholesome Bakery, Pop Daddy Snacks and Cape Cod Chips. The exact selection will vary according to the flight and route.

Drinks will include wines selected by New York wine retailer Parcelle, coffee from Cometeer and Joe Coffee and teas from Smith Teamaker. Drinks will be served in Fable glassware alongside coasters created with New York City illustrator Danielle Rose Fisher.JetBlue BlueFirst

“Traditional first-class food and beverage can feel stuck in the past. BlueFirst is our way of refreshing the experience for today’s traveler. From creating your own cocktail and ordering right from your seatback screen, to a thoughtfully crafted seat that offers responsive comfort, we’re making the experience more personal, modern and fun. Premium should feel special, not stuffy,” says Geraghty.

The premium experience will extend to the airport. BlueFirst passengers will receive Group 1 boarding, dedicated overhead bin space, priority check-in and access to an expedited route to security at more than 30 airports.

BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares will also include two free checked bags, priority baggage delivery and no change or cancellation fees, although JetBlue notes that benefits attached to the BlueFirst Base fare may vary.

The launch forms part of JetBlue's JetForward strategy, which includes increased investment in premium travel. It follows the recent opening of the airline's second BlueHouse airport lounge in Boston. Its first BlueHouse is at New York's John F Kennedy International Airport.

BlueFirst will sit alongside Mint, JetBlue's existing premium cabin, allowing the airline to offer a dedicated premium product on more of its network. JetBlue flies to more than 100 destinations across the US, Latin America, the Caribbean, Canada and Europe and is a major carrier in New York, Boston, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, Los Angeles, Orlando and San Juan.

“Domestic first class has become easy to predict. We think it’s time for a fresh take,” says Geraghty. “Customers are increasingly looking for more premium experiences, and BlueFirst gives them an elevated experience that feels distinctly JetBlue, with thoughtful touches, caring service and great value. It’s another way we’re bringing our JetForward strategy to life and giving customers more reasons to choose JetBlue.”
