Peter Island Resort, the British Virgin Islands' largest private island retreat, will reopen on December 1, 2024, following a seven-year renovation.
With the heart of the property now relocated to Deadman's Beach, 52-room resort's reimagining includes new beachfront accommodation, an enhanced yacht club capable of hosting multiple superyachts up to 200 feet, and a 10,000-square-foot seaside spa.
The spa features seven treatment rooms, a fitness centre, yoga and meditation sanctuary, manicure and pedicure salon, an outdoor pool and an oceanfront hot tub. Treatments will use a combination of Skin111 and Farmhouse Fresh's organic products, as well as local island ingredients."We're pleased to introduce guests to an exquisitely reimagined resort with the same beauty and charm that has enchanted visitors for decades," says David Van Andel, president of Peter Island Resort.
The property's new Yacht Club features a dedicated swimming pool, recreational areas with pickleball, bocce ball and basketball courts, and a bar and grill, the Drunken Pelican. The Sea Chest Boutique and commissary complete the marina facilities.A new 3,000-square-foot Conference Centre accommodates up to 180 people, with dedicated kitchen facilities, flexible indoor spaces and two event lawns. The venue overlooks the Sir Francis Drake Channel with views of Tortola.
Dining options include The Drake Steakhouse, a beachfront restaurant with a surf and turf menu and an extensive wine collection. The more casual Drunken Pelican offers creative dishes and craft cocktails, with what the resort describes as "a lively atmosphere that's sure to become a top BVI hot spot."The resort maintains five beaches and a scenic sunset loop with panoramic views of the Virgin Islands, plus plenty of water activities including sailing, fishing and snorkelling.
Rates for the transformed resort start at US$1,000 per night plus taxes and fees.
