Lollipop is a candy-inspired superyacht from Vripack
Dutch design studio Vripack has created a 37.4-metre superyacht featuring sweet-themed bedrooms, Murano glass confectionery and swing chairs, inspired by its owners' childhood memories.
Referencing Shirley Temple's classic song On the Good Ship Lollipop, Vripack demonstrates how elite super yacht design can have a sense of humour. The unusual concept was developed in close collaboration with its American owners, who wanted a vessel that reflected their family memories and playful outlook on life.
Built by Dutch shipyard Moonen, Lollipop is the first yacht in the company's 122 Martinique series to feature interiors by Vripack. It's a tasteful interpretation of the brief, though, rather than a Willy Wonka explosion of razzmatazz.
One of the most distinctive features is a custom mural inspired by traditional Dutch Delft pottery, positioned behind the formal dining table. Rather than depicting conventional floral scenes, the artwork incorporates bonbons, Tootsie Rolls and lemon drops, alongside a child resembling the owners' daughter holding a lollipop.
The confectionery theme continues throughout the accommodation. Each of the four guest cabins on the lower deck takes inspiration from a different sweet, with peppermint, lemon drop, Swedish fish and gummy bear colour schemes complemented by candy-striped wallcoverings.
In the full-beam owner's suite on the main deck, a bespoke leather ceiling features a swirling pattern that subtly references the shape of a lollipop.
"When I was young working as a skipper, I always said, 'If I ever have a big power boat, it'll be The Good Ship Lollipop'," says the owner. "It was important to us that Lollipop didn't take herself too seriously. The candy theme is fun, but underneath is an elegant yacht that feels comfortable and completely ours."
The playful details extend to the outdoor spaces. On the sun deck, Murano glass sweets are incorporated into the glass-fronted hot tub, while confectionery motifs are suspended within the resin bar top.
Other amenities include an outdoor dining area, grill, pop-up television and a pair of swing chairs designed as a quiet reading retreat.
Even the yacht's accompanying boats have been given confectionery-inspired names. A Vripack-designed Wajer 38 tender is called BonBon, while the crew tender has been christened Cracker Jack.
"As well as being a sweet treat, the definition of crackerjack is someone who is skilful at what they're doing, which we felt was more than fitting for the crew," says the owner.
Despite its whimsical appearance, Lollipop has been designed for extended periods at sea. The owners intend to spend approximately eight months a year on board, accompanied by their two dogs, making comfort and practicality important considerations.
Vripack has therefore avoided creating an overtly themed interior, instead incorporating confectionery references into a more restrained design scheme characterised by soft curves, arched detailing and open sightlines.

Large windows maximise views of the surrounding sea, while the layout is intended to allow easy movement between living spaces. The project illustrates how superyacht interiors can be tailored to reflect owners' identities, interests and family histories rather than following conventional luxury aesthetics.

Marnix J Hoekstra, co-creative director of Vripack, says: "This project was a lot of fun. Ultimately, yachting is about enjoying time on the water with the people you love, and
