Lonely Planet has released a comprehensive family holiday planner featuring "300 unforgettable destinations and experiences around the world, each curated for the perfect time of year."
The new book, titled Where To Go When With Kids, serves as a companion to Lonely Planet's Where To Go When guide, but focuses specifically on family travel with children up to 16 years old.
The guide breaks down travel recommendations by calendar month, with each chapter featuring 25 inspiring travel ideas designed to suit varying family interests.
The book includes options ranging from discovering Patagonia in January to exploring Sri Lanka's ancient cities in September crowd-free and even enrolling in the Mermaid University of Maui in May.
The guide features several practical planning tools, including flowcharts to help families navigate from short breaks to one or two-week escapes. Infographics categorise family adventures by budget, ranging from "good value" to "expensive but worth it," whilst recommendations are broken down by age groups from "tots to pre-tweens" to "older kids and teens."
Each monthly section provides insider information on why destinations are particularly appealing at specific times of year, along with eight unmissable events to enjoy during visits.
The content covers diverse experiences including wildlife watching, attractions and theme parks, cultural landmarks, food and drink trips, beaches and thrill-seeking activities.
The book has been compiled by Lonely Planet's team of travel expert parents, who provide trip planning tips, need-to-know information, practical insights and suggestions for alternative times to visit featured destinations throughout the year.
Lonely Planet's Where To Go When With Kids is available from shop.lonelyplanet.com and bookshops, priced at £27.99.
