VEA Newport Beach and Orlebar Brown launch poolside pop-up
California resort VEA Newport Beach has launched a collaboration with British menswear brand Orlebar Brown, featuring poolside shopping, in-room concierge services and a signature cocktail. Olivia Palamountain reports
VEA Newport Beach has partnered with British menswear brand Orlebar Brown to bring luxury fashion directly to the resort's poolside cabanas.
Taking place throughout June, the partnership coincides with Orlebar Brown's opening of its first Orange County retail location at Fashion Island, located steps away from the luxury Southern California resort.
Every Saturday in June, Orlebar Brown will operate a pop-up shop from 12-4pm within VEA's poolside cabana area, featuring custom upholstery, branded pool accessories and samples from the brand's latest collection available for direct purchase by resort guests.
The collaboration extends beyond retail, with VEA offering in-room shopping concierge services activated by hanger tags in guest rooms. The service delivers products from the Fashion Island store directly to guests' accommodations.
Suite guests staying throughout June receive US$250 Orlebar Brown gift certificates, whilst the resort's Edge Bar - described as Newport Beach's largest outdoor bar - will serve a signature "Good Times" cocktail featuring Tanqueray Gin, fresh lemon juice, St-Germain, simple syrup, cucumber, and mint, topped with a straw in Orlebar Brown's signature red-and-white stripes.
Debbie Snavely, general manager of VEA Newport Beach Marriott, says: "VEA provides the perfect backdrop for a luxury fashion experience. Orlebar Brown embodies the essence of our guests—elegant yet approachable, relaxed yet polished. We're thrilled to offer VEA guests the opportunity to engage with the brand both at our resort and just steps away at the new Fashion Island location."
Orlebar Brown, founded in 2007 as a British resort wear and lifestyle brand, has been owned by Chanel since 2018. Known for its classic Bulldog swim shorts with signature side-fasteners made from 100% recycled plastic, the brand operates more than 50 direct stores globally and is stocked in over 250 locations worldwide.
The Fashion Island location represents the brand's latest expansion into California's luxury retail market, capitalising on the area's affluent clientele and coastal lifestyle appeal.
VEA Newport Beach underwent extensive renovation before reopening in summer 2022, featuring coastal-inspired luxury guest rooms, new suite categories, restaurants, a spa, and pool experience designed to capture the essence of Newport Beach's social scene.
