Blue Origin's first all-female crew completes milestone space journey

Six pioneering women - including pop star Katy Perry and media personality Lauren Sánchez - reached the edge of space today aboard Jeff Bezos' New Shepard rocket, signalling the first all-female space mission in more 60 years. Olivia Palamountain reports

Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket has today successfully completed its NS-31 mission, the first all-female trip to space in more than six decades.

As previously reported by Globetrender, the crew consisted of entrepreneur Aisha Bowe, activist Amanda Nguyen, CBS broadcaster Gayle King, singer Katy Perry, pilot Kerianne Flynn and media personality Lauren Sánchez.

Sánchez, who is engaged to Amazon and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos, lead the mission with the aim of challenging the crew's perspectives of Earth while empowering them to share their stories and create lasting inspiration for future generations. Blue Origin x NS-31 The flight lasted approximately 11 minutes, reaching the Kármán Line - the internationally recognised boundary of space - before safely returning to Earth.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Katy Perry said she she would be writing a song about the experience and revealed the setlist for her upcoming tour on the trip.

Perry's upcoming "Lifetimes Tour" starts in Mexico City on April 23 which consists of 84 dates before ending in Abu Dhabi on December 7.Blue Origin x NS-31The 40-year-old star said she felt "super connected to love" after returning to Earth following her trip on Jeff Bezos’s New Shepard NS-31 embarking on the Blue Origin programme.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex opens daily at 9am, with closing times varying by season. Single-day admission is US$75 per adult, US$65 per child. A two-day ticket is available for US$89 per adult and US$79 per child.
