Cannes' Hôtel Martinez has unveiled the Martinez Bar, a louche vinyl speakeasy now open to both hotel guests and locals.
The new establishment, which features live music with DJ sets and rare vinyl records, along with sharing plates by Chef Jean Imbert, makes Hôtel Martinez the only hotel in Cannes to house two distinct bar venues.
The Art Deco Hôtel Martinez, which opened in 1929, is located on Le Croisette and features 410 rooms and suites. Interior designer Remi Tessier drew inspiration from the ambiance of La Palme d'Or, the hotel's gourmet seafood restaurant to style the bar.
Décor includes Tiffany lamps and sofas adorned with damask set against Persian rugs; the ceiling features red decorative glass and gold leaf, complemented by columns covered in moiré fabric, mirror and glass that house built-in speakers for an immersive sound experience. The bar's soundtrack was curated by a New York record store frequented by Chef Jean Imbert. The menu, created by Imbert's team and executed by chef Alexandre Elia, offers distinctive dishes such as "caviar caviar" - imperial golden caviar combined with aubergine dip, Jean Imbert's signature avocado, a Niçoise-inspired socca, and crispy langoustines.
Designed to resemble a vinyl soundtrack, the cocktail menu features drinks that echo the 1930s style of the hotel alongside reimagined classic cocktails. Delphine Grossman has joined the Hôtel Martinez team to oversee the bar and its cocktail selection, bringing extensive experience from establishments including La Mamounia Marrakech and Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne.
The Martinez Bar is open from 6pm to 2am five days a week, extending to seven days during peak season.
