Sir Richard Branson's chalet in the Swiss Alps is set to host its first summer wellness retreat, offering glacial lake swimming, Pilates and e-bike rides. Olivia Palamountain reports
The Lodge, Sir Richard Branson's chalet in Verbier, Switzerland is gearing up to host its first Mountain Wellness Retreat this summer, from July 10-14.
While Sir Richard won't be on hand to host participants personally, they can expect plenty of entertainment during the course of the four-day getaway, which features yoga classes, Pilates, fitness sessions, mindfulness workshops and a menu of spa treatments.
The retreat will also offer outdoor activities including guided hikes, e-biking, glacial lake swimming, paragliding and zip-lining.The summer setting transforms the Alps into what Virgin describes as "a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts," with Verbier being particularly noted as a "dream destination for mountain bikers" due to its prestigious cycling events and extensive trail network.
Guests looking for a less active experience can explore nearby villages or simply relax at the chalet, which features indoor and outdoor hot tubs and a heated indoor pool. The Lodge's spa offerings include reflexology alongside traditional massage treatments.Evening meals will be served al fresco on the terrace, with "health-focused, mouth-watering menus crafted by Michelin-trained chefs." Fine wines will be served with dinner, with non-alcoholic options available throughout the retreat.
The Mountain Wellness Retreat starts at CHF 3,315 (£2,922) per person, based on double occupancy for the four-day programme.
