China Tang brings dim sum to Harrods

Nearly two decades after opening at The Dorchester, China Tang has launched in the Harrods Dining Hall, serving Cantonese cuisine and elegant dim sum. Olivia Palamountain reports

Cantonese restaurant China Tang has expanded from The Dorchester into Harrods' Dining Hall with a new dim sum concept ahead of its 20th anniversary celebrations in 2025.

Dim Sum by China Tang is an intimate 25-cover restaurant offering 16 dim sum variations (14 savoury and two sweet), including  luxury interpretations such as scallop dumplings topped with caviar, Wagyu taro puffs, truffle and shiitake mushroom bao and chicken dumplings in spicy sauce.

Signature dishes from the Park Lane venue, including roast duck and stir-fried A5 Wagyu beef in black pepper sauce, also make an appearance. View the full menu of Dim Sum by China Tang here.China Tang at Harrods Head Chef James Xia, who brings three decades of Cantonese culinary experience from prestigious London restaurants including Le Chinois in Knightsbridge, leads the kitchen alongside China Tang's Dim Sum master, Chef He.

Chef He, who joined the Park Lane restaurant in 2019, oversees daily dim sum preparation for both locations.China Tang at HarrodsThe venue's design complements the historic Art Deco features of Harrods Dining Hall, creating a visual link to the original restaurant.
