Japan Airlines has unveiled fully customised, high-tech seats for the first class, business class and premium economy cabins on 13 A350 aircraft, designed in collaboration with Safran Seats.
JAL will be the first airline globally to offer Safran Seats’ latest innovations – Euphony and Active Backrest – in its first and business class suites.
Euphony is a headset-free sound solution developed with acoustical engineering expert Devialet, while Active Backrest provides enhanced support during all flight phases and is designed to accommodate all passenger profiles. The first class cabin will feature six luxurious suites, each with a wide independent seat and a side seat for use when the primary seat is in bed position. The primary seat converts into an 80-inch bed, and high shells and doors ensure maximum privacy.
The suite can accommodate up to three people, with the primary and side seats paired with the adjacent ottoman. Ample storage space is provided, including a wardrobe, large under-ottoman space and an insulated drinks compartment.
Passengers can relax with an immersive cinematic experience with a 43-inch in-flight entertainment screen, Euphony audio and an individual wireless suite control unit.In the business class cabin, 54 suites are arranged in a staggered configuration. The seats offer an enhanced in-flight experience with Euphony and Active Backrest technologies, as well as a high shell and transparent door for privacy.
A meal table deploys from the console in a single piece, offering more space for work or leisure activities, while the under-ottoman space allows for convenient storage of carry-on bags.
In premium economy, the cabin features 24 seats designed to preserve each passenger’s privacy. The seats are equipped with a fixed backshell and a large divider between them, ensuring that each passenger’s personal space is maintained throughout the flight.
The new seats are also electrically actuated, giving passengers complete control over their seating position.
