Project Milano marks a new chapter for Tankoa Yachts, a next-generation concept vessel that features a beach club, convertible gym and outdoor pool. Olivia Palamountain reports

Tankoa Yachts has announced a collaboration with renowned design studio Nauta Design to create the 70-metre superyacht Project Milano.

The partnership marks a significant expansion of Tankoa’s range and underscores the shipyard’s commitment to fostering innovative partnerships with esteemed designers.

Project Milano draws inspiration from the eponymous Italian city known for its elegance, aesthetic sensibility and intelligent design.

The yacht measures 70 metres in length overall, with a beam of 11.80 metres and a draft of 3.50 metres; exteriors showcase clean lines that reflect the timeless design inherent to both Tankoa and Nauta’s DNA.TANKOAMario Pedol, Nauta Co-founder, described the project’s design ethos, by saying: “The stretched horizontal lines establish a seamless connection with the sea’s surface and the horizon, providing an intimate connection with the natural environment. It embodies a reinvention of clean forms and harmonious volumes, resulting in a visual effect of lightness, purity, and serenity.”

One of the standout features of Project Milano is the impressive stern area, which includes a beach club with a lounge, convertible gym, relaxation area featuring a sauna and massage room, and folding hull platforms that open at sea level.TANKOAThere is a 6.5-metre outdoor pool accompanied by an expansive sun lounging area that is fully customisable to the owner’s preferences.

The yacht’s layout offers a seamless flow between the guest accommodation and the beach club, thanks to the single-tier diesel-electric engine room located on the under-lower deck. The lower deck houses four guest suites, a garage for water toys and dive gear, crew facilities and 12 crew cabins.TANKOA TANKOAThe main deck features an open-air lounge connected to the beach area, a main saloon and dining area, two spacious VIP staterooms with fold-out terraces, and a forward garage capable of accommodating two tenders.

The upper deck is dedicated entirely to the owner’s indulgence, boasting a vast master stateroom with breathtaking forward views, a private pool and a helipad at the bow. The sky lounge and an outdoor dining area are also located on this deck.TANKOA TANKOAIn line with Tankoa’s commitment to sustainable technologies, Project Milano embraces a diesel-electric propulsion system, which includes four variable speed generators powering two e-motors, enabling a top speed of 16.5 knots.

The yacht will also be equipped with fuel cells providing up to 200kW of power, with Tankoa partnering with leading suppliers to integrate methanol fuel cells.
