Tapping into the trend for ‘Upskilling Escapes’, The Luminaire is offering the chance to tour with and learn from leading photographers. Rose Dykins reports

Luxury travel company The Luminaire has partnered with international photography co-operative Magnum Photographers to offer a series of new experiences designed to “stimulate, engage and transform”.

The collaboration between Magnum Photographers and The Luminaire – which specialises in introducing curious travellers to new knowledge and enriching perspectives – sees the introduction of three travel experiences that give photography enthusiasts the opportunity to travel with and learn from Magnum’s acclaimed photographers.

Available to both amateur and pro photographers, the new itineraries from The Luminaire include trips to Northern Norway, Mexico and Cape Cod in the US.

In the case of Norway, the journey involves joining leading contemporary Norwegian photographer Jonas Bendiksen to explore the isolated beauty of the nation’s northernmost coastal communities and landscapes by sea and by land.

Guests are also invited to travel across Mexico to explore religious traditions and rituals with celebrated photographer Cristina Garcia Rodero – whose work typically documents rituals around the world through expressive portraits.

The Southern Mexico with Cristina Garcia Rodero itinerary leads travellers on a journey through Mexico’s cultural heritage and includes street photography field trips that explore the nation’s remarkable capacity to adapt.

The final travel photography experience on offer with The Luminaire involves spending time with renowned photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb near their home in Cape Cod, and experience first-hand why the stark Atlantic coastal landscape continues to inspire their work.

A Photographic Sojourn in Massachusetts is a unique opportunity to join Webb and Norris in their home studio, at the favourite seafood restaurant and along the coast to capture some incredible panoramic seascapes on camera.

Adam Sebba, CEO of The Luminaire, says: “We’re very excited to collaborate with Magnum Photographers and create unique life-changing experiences for Magnum fans who want to deepen their understanding of the work and inspiration of one of their photography heroes.

“I’m excited to welcome four world-renowned talents into The Luminaire’s Guild of leading experts. These journeys bring a fresh, inspiring and accessible experience to a new generation of travellers.”
