[dropcap size=big]T[/dropcap]his year, four UK locations will play host to Cocktails in the City, an ambitious pop-up project that will see mixologists from 20 European bars serving signature concoctions.

First up will be London, with an extravagant three-day event held at the stunning Grade II Listed building One Mayfair from March 10 to 12.

Throughout the evening, new recipes will be tested in the four-floor venue, which features a rooftop whisky snug, a crypt and a grand hall. About 3,000 visitors are expected to booze their way through the long weekend of nightly libations.

Innovative cocktails will be shaken, stirred and strained by bartenders from London, as well as speakeasies from Paris (Little Red Door), Amsterdam (Door 74) and Copenhagen (Ruby). Among the London bars represented will be Powder Keg Diplomacy, the Alchemist, Cahoots and Reverend JW Simpson.

The showcase will then move to Leeds for April 7-8, Manchester for May 19-21, back to London for July 29-31, and finally Edinburgh for October 27-28. Tickets cost £15.

Organised by creative lifestyle company Bourne and Hollingsworth Group, a statement from their PR company says: “From classic champagne cocktails to refreshing pisco sours, the weekend will see some of the world’s finest bartenders flaunt their cocktail skills and introduce thirsty guests to an array of unusual and rare ingredients.

“Perfect for seasoned cocktail aficionados and recent enthusiasts in equal measure, Cocktails in the City is a one-of-the-kind experience that allows guests to enjoy the best of London’s dynamic and world-famous bar scene without even having to leave the building.

“From well- established brands to innovative newcomers, each bar will be vying for the limelight, offering delicious tastings, interactive demonstrations and unique forms of entertainment.”
