Easyjet offers free baby passports as infant travel rises

October 23, 2026

To incentivise parents with babies to travel abroad, Easyjet is covering the cost of their first passport to make holidays more affordable.

Easyjet and Easyjet holidays have launched a new initiative covering the £66.50 cost of a baby's first UK passport when parents book a package holiday, following a rise in the number of families travelling abroad with infants.

The offer is available for bookings made between October 22 and November 26, 2026, and applies to one child aged up to 18 months per booking. Parents can claim the equivalent cost of a child's passport through a promotional code redeemable against an Easyjet Holidays package.

The initiative comes as Easyjet Holidays reports a 10% increase in infant passengers in 2026 compared with 2025. Meanwhile, Easyjet says it has carried more than 22,000 additional infants across its airline network this year, with city breaks becoming increasingly popular among young families.

The campaign follows research commissioned by Easyjet and Easyjet Holidays that highlights both the appeal and practical challenges of travelling abroad with infants.

According to the study, 82% of parents consider their baby's first holiday a significant family milestone, while 57% describe it as one of their proudest parenting moments.

However, obtaining a passport can be a challenge. More than a third (36%) of respondents identified taking their baby's first passport photograph as one of the biggest obstacles to travelling abroad.Easyjet babies - David Parry/PA Media Assignments

On average, parents reported needing four attempts to obtain an acceptable photograph, while 24% needed up to six attempts. Almost one in ten (9%) admitted they had not realised their baby needed a separate passport until they began planning a holiday.

Affordability is another consideration, with 75% of parents agreeing that having the cost of a baby's passport covered would make a family holiday feel more affordable.

The research also points to growing interest in travelling during parental leave. Some 38% of parents said they wanted or planned to take an overseas family holiday during this period.

Although 27% anticipated difficulties adapting their baby's routine while travelling, the experiences of parents who had already taken young children abroad were largely positive.

Almost half (48%) said their holiday had been easier than expected, while 87% would feel confident repeating the experience. Half reported that their children adapted well to changes in routine, while 49% said they settled quickly in unfamiliar environments.

Travelling with a baby also appeared to influence parents' confidence. Some 37% said their first holiday with an infant made them more comfortable taking their child to new places, while 32% reported feeling closer as a family afterwards.

The findings suggest that package holidays remain an attractive option for parents seeking greater predictability when travelling with young children.

More than three-quarters (78%) agreed that package holidays simplify the planning process, while 64% said they made it easier to maintain family routines abroad.

When choosing accommodation, 47% prioritised baby-friendly facilities. The most sought-after features included children's swimming pools (43%), in-room fridges (39%) and children's menus (33%).

Kate West, captain at Easyjet, says: "We carry millions of families across Europe every year, and we know that travelling with a baby brings a whole series of exciting firsts. We want to make travel as easy and accessible as possible for everyone, including young families, so they can enjoy all the experiences and memories that travel can bring.

"We hope that covering the cost of a baby’s first passport goes a small way towards making that first family adventure a little easier and gives our youngest travellers a warm welcome to the world."

Stuart Wright, customer director at Easyjet Holidays, says: "Travel has a unique way of bringing families together, and a baby's very first holiday is often one of those moments parents remember for years to come. By covering the cost of a baby's first passport, we're helping more families start making those memories that little bit sooner.

"Combined with our great-value packages, family-friendly hotels and thousands of Free Kids Places, it's another way we're making family holidays easier and more affordable."

The research was conducted by Censuswide between September 22 and 24, 2026, among 2,001 UK parents of children aged five and under who had travelled abroad with their children.
