Amancaya Bahamas reveals design team and island vision

June 9, 2026

Amancaya Bahamas, Aman’s first destination in The Bahamas, will feature a private island hotel, branded residences, a marina and a design collaboration spanning architecture, interiors and landscape.

Aman has unveiled the design for Amancaya Bahamas, its first property in The Bahamas and a significant expansion of the luxury hospitality brand’s Caribbean portfolio. Located in the Exuma archipelago, the project will combine a 36-pavilion hotel with a limited collection of branded residences on a private island surrounded by clear waters, white-sand beaches and some of the region’s best-known boating and diving locations.

The name Amancaya comes from the Taíno language and means “peaceful island”. According to Aman, the destination has been conceived as a secluded retreat shaped by its natural surroundings, with both land and sea playing a central role in the guest experience. Alongside accommodation, the development will include a dedicated marina, giving guests direct access to the wider Exumas, as well as a beach club, an Aman Spa and Fitness Centre, nature trails and several dining venues.

A key aspect of the project is its design team. Brazilian practice Jacobsen Studio has been appointed to lead the architectural concept, while interiors are being created by Yabu Pushelberg. Landscape architecture will be overseen by Raymond Jungles, Inc., a firm known for projects that incorporate native planting and ecological restoration. Aman says the collaboration is intended to balance contemporary design with a strong connection to the surrounding environment.

The residential component of Amancaya Bahamas will consist of three- to five-bedroom homes positioned across the island to maximise privacy. Each residence will include its own swimming pool and indoor-outdoor living spaces designed to take advantage of the setting. Owners will have access to all resort facilities while receiving services managed by Aman.

Speaking about the project, Vlad Doronin, chairman and CEO of Aman Group, says: “A private island in one of the most beautiful corners of the world, Amancaya represents a significant evolution for Aman in the Caribbean. A project defined by its unique location and connection to nature, we are creating a destination that reflects Aman’s enduring philosophy of space and privacy while providing intuitive service, best in class amenities and a first-of-its-kind design collaboration in The Bahamas.”

The development recently reached an important milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony held on April 17, 2026. Partners including OKO Group and Squircle Capital joined the event, marking the start of construction on the site. Aman says environmental considerations will remain central throughout the project. Plans include pursuing LEED certification, an internationally recognised standard for sustainable building design, while aligning development goals with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

For Aman, Amancaya Bahamas strengthens its presence in the Caribbean alongside existing properties Amanera in the Dominican Republic and Amanyara in Turks and Caicos. The opening will also form part of a wider expansion across the Americas. Other forthcoming projects include Amanvari in Mexico’s East Cape, Aman Beverly Hills and Aman Miami Beach.

While a completion date has not yet been announced, the unveiling of the design team offers the clearest indication so far of how Amancaya Bahamas will take shape. When it opens, the destination will introduce Aman’s approach to hospitality and branded living to The Bahamas for the first time, adding a new luxury resort and residential offering to one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after island regions.
