Four Seasons Abu Dhabi debuts Japanese listening bar

December 8, 2025

Saikindō will tap into the trend for Japanese listening bars when it opens at Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, promising vinyl culture, hi-fi sound and cocktails crafted using AI. Olivia Palamountain reports

Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island is preparing to introduce a cocktail bar where artificial intelligence transforms music into flavour, and where the quality of sound matters as much as the quality of the drink.

Saikindō, opening in November 2025, will be the region's first Japanese-inspired listening bar, combining the audio-obsessed culture of Japan's hi-fi music venues with cocktail craft. The concept positions itself as "a dialogue between sound, space, and spirit", marking a new type of venue for the Middle East.

Beverage director Marco Corallo, who previously worked at Four Seasons Jumeirah in Dubai and Artesian in London, will lead the bar alongside Head Mixologist Ann Pinsuda, formerly of The Bamboo Bar in Bangkok. The team plans to use AI technology to translate musical elements such as tempo and tone into cocktail recipes, creating drinks that correspond to the bar's soundscape.  Saikindō at Four Seasons Hotel Abu DhabiThe cocktail menu will feature seasonal Japanese ingredients, with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions available. Guests will be able to explore Japanese cocktails alongside international spirits, sake and shōchū.

Saikindō's interior design takes cues from Japan's Metabolism movement, known for its modular architecture, combined with mid-century design elements. The space will incorporate wooden panelling, acoustic detailing, embroidered wallpaper and custom furnishings. Design references will also blend classic sophistication with Japan's Bosozoku biker subculture, reflected in patterns, materials and fashion pieces displayed within the bar.Saikindō at Four Seasons Hotel Abu DhabiThe venue will host vinyl takeovers, guest DJ sets, record collectors' nights and masterclasses focused on Japanese spirits, with programming designed to create what the hotel terms "immersive explorations" of sound and flavour.

Bob Suri, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi, says the project represented "an inspiring journey of creativity, collaboration and innovation" developed with support from the hotel's ownership and the Department of Culture and Tourism.

The bar will follow the principles of omotenashi, the Japanese hospitality concept centred on anticipating guest needs. Complimentary bar snacks will be provided, and the service approach emphasises attention to detail throughout the guest experience.
