Rocco Forte Hotels showcases private in-suite performances
Rocco Forte Hotels has launched a 'Musical Room Service' that brings live performers directly to guests' suites to serenade them over dinner. Olivia Palamountain reports
In what may be the hospitality industry's first integration of professional entertainment with in-room dining, Rocco Forte Hotels has partnered with theatres, opera houses, and musical institutions across its European properties to offer private concerts performed in the privacy of signature suites.
From established sopranos, jazz bands and emerging talents from prestigious musical schools, each hotel has curated performances that reflect local musical traditions and partnerships.
At The Balmoral in Edinburgh, guests can enjoy bagpipe performances in the Glamis Suite through a partnership with Scottish entertainment company Reel Time, whilst Hotel de Rome in Berlin collaborates with young talents from the International Opera Studio of the Berlin State Opera. The service offers remarkable variety: guests at Hotel Amigo in Brussels can gather friends for jazz performances in the Blaton Suite - famously favoured by Serge Gainsbourg - whilst Villa Igiea in Palermo partners with Teatro Massimo to present traditional Sicilian Serenades with the ancient ensemble Antiche Serenate Notturne.
At Brown's Hotel in London, musical expert Sandy Burnett curates personalised selections ranging from all-female classical string quartets to solo harpists or resident saxophonist Greg Davis. Hotel de la Ville in Rome allows guests dining on suite terraces to choose their musical accompaniment from classical violinists to jazz saxophonists.
The concept extends beyond entertainment, integrating with each hotel's culinary programme. At Hotel de Russie in Rome, soprano serenades accompany dishes by acclaimed chef Fulvio Pierangelini on the Picasso Suite's terrace, whilst The Charles Hotel in Munich features musicians from the University of Music & Theatre performing in the Monforte Royal Suite.
The service represents a significant departure from traditional luxury hotel amenities, combining live performance art with hospitality in an unprecedented way. Rather than directing guests to external entertainment venues, the concept brings professional-calibre performances directly to private accommodations.
Hotel Savoy in Florence showcases this integration particularly well, featuring young tenor Gonzalo Godoy Sepulveda, who began his musical journey in the hotel's restaurant and now performs famous opera arias with musical ensembles against Florence's skyline from the Presidential Suite.
The Musical Room Service launches across Rocco Forte Hotels' 15 properties, with prices starting from €2,000. The service requires advance booking and is subject to availability, positioning it as an ultra-luxury offering that transforms traditional room service into an immersive cultural experience. The initiative reflects the hospitality industry's increasing focus on experiential luxury, moving beyond conventional amenities to create memorable, location-specific experiences that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
