Italian yacht manufacturer Invictus has unveiled its new flagship model, the ST550, featuring what the company claims is a revolutionary bow living area that sets new benchmarks for the market segment.
Measuring 16.87m in length and 5.04m in width, the yacht represents a departure from traditional design approaches by prioritising space across all deck areas rather than focusing primarily on the stern.
Designed by Christian Grande, the ST550 draws inspiration from classic tenders whilst incorporating modern innovations. The yacht features softer, rounded forms and includes traditional elements such as antenna housing enhanced with carbon fibre details and optional glossy mahogany finishes instead of teak.
"The concept of the classic tender has been reinterpreted," explains Rosario Alcaro, general manager of Invictus Yacht. "We have designed a space that allows a select few to enjoy exclusive cruising, with a focus on comfort and guest enjoyment."The yacht's most significant innovation is its expansive bow living area, consisting of a large U-shaped sofa and spacious sunbathing area that can be enjoyed even during navigation. High bulwarks and protective glazing provide sea views whilst ensuring privacy when docked.
The yacht also features redesigned outdoor upholstery using high-quality breathable fabrics typically found on larger yachts, accented with synthetic leather trims."In opposition to the more common approaches, which tend to sacrifice space on the main deck and bow to prioritise the stern," explains Rosario Alcaro, "we have divided the spaces to enhance all three areas without sacrificing any one in favour of the others. The result is that, whilst maintaining generous space in each area, we have been able to ensure comfort throughout the entire yacht: main deck, stern and bow."
The cockpit includes a generous living area with optional amenities such as fridge, sink and grill, plus a dining area convertible into a sunbed over two metres in length. Collapsible bulwarks expand the walkable area, whilst a flush gangway and large swim platform facilitate boarding and water access.
Unusually for this segment, the ST550 features a garage for a 2.8-metre jet tender with a two-level opening system. Below deck, the yacht offers two luxurious cabins—Master and VIP—each with private bathrooms, plus a midship living area convertible into a third cabin.Through Invictus Atelier, owners can access extensive customisation options in colours, materials and configurations. Christian Grande explains: "Owners can choose from the entire Invictus colour palette, with the addition of two new options: the special 'Stone White' and 'Deep Groove,' a metallic blue gradient inspired by the sea and sky, creating a rhythmic alternation of blue and azure."
