Egyptian resort destination Somabay is set to expand its accommodation portfolio with the opening of The Kaktus Hotel & Co-Working Hub.

Opening on June 1, the new hybrid hotel will offer leisure facilities alongside dedicated workspace for digital nomads.

The new property, featuring 189 contemporary rooms and suites, will become the latest addition to the Somabay peninsula on Egypt's Red Sea coastline, a destination located approximately five hours' flight time from the UK.Egypt's Somabay to launch the Kaktus Hotel & Co-Working Hub Each accommodation unit comes with private outdoor space in the form of balconies or terraces overlooking the peninsula, while the property's co-working facilities aim to attract remote workers seeking a sunshine escape.

Dining options at the hotel include a main restaurant and bar, plus the Spin Off coffee shop in the lobby. Guests will also have access to multiple eateries at the Somabay Marina, including Mexican restaurant Hola Tacos, Asian-inspired tapas bar Sobar Rooftop and beachfront venue Wyte Soma Beach Club.

The Mediterranean-focused Barbouni Restaurant and Movenpick Ice Cream outlet round out the gastro offerings across the wider resort.

Beyond the hotel itself, guests will have access to Somabay's existing recreational facilities, including an 18-hole Gary Player Championship golf course, footgolf, and the Soma Sports Arena, which houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool, squash and padel courts and a football pitch.Egypt's Somabay to launch the Kaktus Hotel & Co-Working HubResidents can participate in kitesurfing, wingfoiling and scuba diving with instruction available from the Duotone PRO Centre, 7BFt Kitehouse, and Orca Dive Centre.

The development has placed emphasis on environmental initiatives, with the resort highlighting its commitment to "preserving the vibrant marine life" in the surrounding Red Sea. Ongoing conservation efforts include coral reef reforestation, collaboration with Turtle Watch Egypt and projects to restore giant clams and coral habitats.

The Kaktus Hotel & Co-Working Hub represents Somabay's first new accommodation launch following what the company described as "a successful 2024" for the destination.
