Tinajani luxury tented camp to open in Peruvian wilderness
Family-owned hospitality brand Andean is expanding its portfolio of hand-crafted properties across southern Peru with the opening of Tinajani, a secluded tented hamlet in a 300-year-old canyon. Olivia Palamountain reports
Peru's family-owned Andean hospitality brand has grown organically to comprise six unique properties in some of Peru's most spectacular and undiscovered destinations.
The collection is dedicated to celebrating the heritage and soul of Andean culture, crafting journeys that inspire, preserve and restore while honouring the region's legendary past.
The newest addition, Tinajani, will be the brand's most secluded property yet when it opens this spring. Set between Cusco, Lake Titicaca, and the Colca Valley, this tented hamlet spans an untouched 300-acre landscape and features just six authentic camps. Each camp includes two beautifully appointed tents – one for sleeping and another for living – alongside a private deck with a hot tub for stargazing under the Andean night sky.
Tinajani joins Andean's existing portfolio of distinctive properties, including Cirqa, a meticulously restored 16th-century monastery in Arequipa's UNESCO-protected historic centre.
This 11-room retreat combines contemporary elegance with monastic traditions, featuring volcanic rock architecture, towering ashlar walls, and high-vaulted ceilings. Its cuisine draws inspiration from traditional Arequipenean countryside picanterias.
In the dramatic Colca Valley, Puqio offers a tented exploration of Andean life amidst soaring condors and pre-Inca terraces. The tents pay homage to early adventurers from 1934, inviting guests to connect deeply with the landscape and experience some of the clearest night skies in the world.Titilaka, perched on the shores of Lake Titicaca at 4,000 metres above sea level, provides a secluded retreat where sky, water, and mountains converge. The property serves as a gateway to breathtaking landscapes, centuries-old traditions and immersive experiences designed to connect guests with local Quechua and Aymara cultures.
For visitors beginning their Peruvian journey in Lima, Andean offers two distinctive boutique stays: Atemporal, a reimagined 1940s Peruvian Tudor house in a quiet Miraflores enclave, and Fausto, which offers contemporary sophistication with a rooftop terrace and honesty bar in vibrant Miraflores.
Looking ahead, Andean plans to unveil its next chapter by late 2026, bringing its signature blend of authenticity and exploration to another remarkable corner of Peru. The brand remains committed to supporting local communities and instilling pride in Andean heritage while expanding with purpose.
Throughout its growth, Andean continues to push the boundaries of Peruvian travel and hospitality, seeking out extraordinary landscapes, restoring historic spaces, and crafting immersive experiences that honour the traditions of the Altiplano and its people.
