Philanthropist Britnie Turner to headline Globetrender ideation retreat
Britnie Turner, visionary philanthropist and founder of the Aerial BVI, has been confirmed as a headline speaker for Globetrender's debut ideation retreat, launching at the Juvet Landscape hotel this spring. Olivia Palamountain reports
Philanthropist and entrepreneur Britnie Turner is set to headline Globetrender's inaugural ideation retreat, taking place in Norway from April 30 to May 3 2025.
The founder and owner of The Aerial, BVI, a private island eco-resort in the British Virgin Islands, will lead a session on "Force for Good Business" at the exclusive three-night gathering.
Turner will share insights on purpose-driven entrepreneurship and her experience creating transformational environments, drawing on her work at The Aerial, BVI where she hosts "Elevate Summits" focused on personal development and whole-life success (check out Globetrender founder Jenny Southan's first-hand take on the magic of The Aerial here). The humanitarian entrepreneur, who first acquired her private island in 2016, also runs Aerial Recovery Group, which deploys volunteers into disaster zones worldwide, including ongoing efforts to rescue orphans in Ukraine and missions to combat child sex-trafficking.
Turner says: "At Globetrender’s Future of Travel retreat in Norway, we’ll be exploring not just where travel is headed, but how we, as leaders, can shape its evolution with purpose at the core. For me, travel has always been more than an escape – it’s a tool for transformation, both for the traveller and for the world. Owning my own private island, The Aerial, BVI, was never about luxury for the sake of luxury; it was about creating a blueprint for how destinations can drive positive change, from environmental restoration to economic empowerment.
"Throughout my journey – from being homeless and living in my car, to building a real-estate business that elevates entire neighbourhoods, to leading humanitarian missions around the globe – I’ve seen firsthand the power of purpose-driven travel to uplift communities and inspire individuals to live with greater intention. As an industry, we have a responsibility to shift from mere consumption to contribution, and I’m excited to share my insights on how we can make that transition together. Travel should not just enrich our lives; it should enrich the places and people we encounter along the way.”
Turner joins Globetrender founder Jenny Southan, who will speak about trend forecasting and scenario planning, and Up Norway founder Torunn Tronsvang, who will discuss luxury travel innovation.
The retreat will be hosted at the Juvet Landscape Hotel, an architectural masterpiece made famous by appearances in the film Ex Machina and HBO's Succession (read Globetrender's review here).
Accommodation features modernist glass-walled cabins that frame the surrounding wilderness, with all rooms offered as single occupancy.
The retreat aims to provide industry professionals with a space for strategic thinking and innovation in an extraordinary setting, combining workshops, outdoor micro-adventures and curated conversations.
Designed for executives and creative leaders in travel and beyond, the programme includes trend forecasting sessions, nature-inspired ideation and AI-enhanced creative activities.
The three-night experience is priced at £5,495 per person, including accommodation, meals, activities and airport transfers from Ålesund.
