"Our Association is firmly committed to a sustainable path so as to contribute, through cuisine and hospitality, to building a more humane and united world, in harmony with living things," says Laurent Gardinier, president of Relais & Châteaux. "It is an honour for me to welcome these eleven new members to Relais & Châteaux, properties that share not only our values, but our passion for goodness and beauty." The newly-renovated property features traditional Cycladic architecture with "whitewashed walls with natural stone and wood" and retro 1970s design accents.
Two French properties join the association: Domaine Mouflon d'Or in Corsica and Hôtel Les Roches in Le Lavandou. The property features "sleek, modern architecture" that "integrates harmoniously with its surroundings where warm wood, polished concrete, and natural stone create a refined yet understated aesthetic rooted in Japanese traditions."
The sole restaurant among the new members is Jônt in Washington D.C., a two Michelin-starred establishment helmed by Chef Ryan Ratino. Located minutes from the White House, the restaurant offers dinner Wednesday through Sunday with a hip-hop-inspired playlist and an open kitchen. In India, Ran Baas The Palace in Patiala, Punjab has joined after nearly a decade of restoration. Once the home of the Maharaja's wives within "the largest private residence in Asia," the property features "richly carved wood furnishings, gilded frescoes, marble floors, silk carpets, and crystal chandeliers."
Central America is represented by Sublime Restaurant in Guatemala City, where Chef Sergio Diaz creates dishes that "narrate Guatemalan history in twelve distinct chapters," based on research conducted with anthropologist Jocelyn Degollado. The Cove Eleuthera in the Bahamas offers 22 guest rooms including suites and villas along two private coves. The property features two restaurants with panoramic views and a bar where guests can "sip a tropical cocktail while watching the sea turtles that frequent the water below as the sun sets into the horizon."
Completing the new additions is Grand Hotel Parker's in Naples, Italy, which was founded in 1870 as the city's first prestigious hotel. Located in the elegant Chiaia quarter, the property offers 67 bedrooms including 20 suites with "Hungarian-point parquet floors, crystal chandeliers, silky draperies, and period furnishings."
With these additions, Relais & Châteaux now comprises 580 hotels and restaurants worldwide, operated by independent owners who are "deeply committed to sharing their local culture as well as their passion for what is good and beautiful."
