Time + Tide Chongwe House, an exclusive-use safari property in Zambia, has undergone a complete transformation ahead of its May reopening. Olivia Palamountain reports
Time + Tide's flagship safari property, Chongwe House, will reopen on May 1, 2025 following an ambitious redesign.
Located in Zambia's Lower Zambezi, at the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers, the four-bedroom retreat has been transformed into a sculptural sanctuary that emphasises connection with its wild surroundings.
The double-storey house now features drop-down tented fronts that dissolve boundaries between bedrooms and bush, while an expanded outdoor space introduces a firepit, boma, swimming pool, and interactive kitchen complete with pizza oven and open-flame barbecue area. The redesign extends to every element, from bespoke furniture to refined tableware, while maintaining the property's commitment to intimate safari experiences. Guests continue to benefit from a dedicated team including a private guide and chef, with activities ranging from game drives and boating safaris to tiger fishing and guided walks.
Chongwe House's location offers access to diverse habitats, from ancient tree groves to the mountain escarpment and the wildlife-rich Zambezi River.
The property can be combined with Time + Tide's five camps in South Luangwa National Park for extended safari experiences.
The house will operate seasonally from May 1 to November 15, 2025, with rates starting at US$900 per person per night (minimum four guests). Access is via a 35-minute scenic flight from Lusaka to Royal Airstrip, followed by a 20-minute game drive.
