Nokken has partnered with architects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) to launch a unique semi-permanent structure aimed at the luxury eco-tourism market.

The "Nokken X BIG Softshell", available from summer 2025, combines architectural sophistication with environmental responsibility.

The structure features lightweight timber framing and recyclable Spanish canvas, designed for easy transport and assembly in remote locations. Starting at £15,900, it targets eco-resorts, glamping operators and private buyers seeking sustainable luxury accommodation solutions.Nokken BIG Softshell "We wanted to create something that transcends the typical idea of temporary architecture. The Softshell challenges the boundaries of mobility and permanence, offering a structure that is not only functional but also enhances the environment in which it's placed," says Finn Nørkjær, Partner at BIG.

The project responds to post-pandemic travel trends favouring immersive, nature-connected experiences. "The Nokken X BIG Softshell is a response to the growing demand for adaptable, low-impact structures that harmonise with their surroundings," says Nathan Aylott, Nokken's Creative Director.

Beyond hospitality, the structure addresses the growing remote work market, offering adaptable spaces for garden studios and personal retreats. The modular design accommodates renewable energy solutions and smart amenities, while its minimal environmental impact appeals to eco-conscious operators.

Pre-orders opened on December 4, 2024, with Nokken already exploring new materials and technologies for future adaptable structures.
