Cottar’s Safaris has introduced alfresco ‘Wild Movie Nights’ at their deluxe camp in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, complete with gourmet cinema snacks. Olivia Palamountain reports

Beginning in October 2024, guests at  Cottar’s 1920s Camp in Kenya will have the opportunity to enjoy a “cinema paradiso” experience under the African stars.

The alfresco viewing takes place at a specially designed outdoor cinema enveloped in views of the surrounding savannah.

As dusk descends, guests will be escorted to this picturesque setting, where the vintage Rolls Royce “Dugu Dugu” Bar awaits with a selection of aperitifs.   Cottar's SafarisCottar's SafarisThe cinema comprises a large projector screen surrounded by the warm glow of lanterns and a crackling fire, creating an intimate atmosphere amidst the wilderness.Cottar's SafarisCottar's SafarisGuests can choose to relax on comfortable canvas bean bags or traditional shuka mats, with thick blankets provided for warmth.

The film selection features iconic African-themed movies such as The Lion King or Out of Africa, for a fully immersive experience.Cottar's SafarisCottar's SafarisTo enhance the cinematic experience, gourmet versions of classic movie snacks will be served, including freshly popped popcorn, savoury hotdogs and homemade chocolates.

Following the film, guests return to the camp for an opulent dinner served under the stars.
