Emirates has unveiled an “innovatively designed” loungewear set for business class passengers that is stylish enough to wear in the airport. Jenny Southan reports
Being able to get a proper night’s sleep is a key reason to book business class, which is why every major airline including Dubai-based Emirates, provides seats that convert into fully flat beds. PJs are also a common perk.
In this case, Emirates’ new loungewear set consists of a relaxed cowl neck top and drawstring pants, slippers, and a matching eye mask that together come in a drawstring pouch. It will also be free to take home.
Made from super soft premium modal material, the fabric is lightweight and breathable. Designed to reflect contemporary athleisure trends, the cosy fabric is in a relaxing shade of light blue, and the sets are available in two sizes.
The botanic fibres and jersey knit style means the loungewear has an “elegant drape that flatters various body types, ensuring soft and stretchy comfort above the clouds”, says Emirates.
The clothing has been designed to be not too baggy or tight (aka “flight fit”) – perfect for sleeping in, but also suitable to wear for a drink at the bar on the A380, or even as a casual outfit that takes you from aircraft to arrivals in style. (There is always a fear that you won’t wake up in time to get changed before landing so this alleviates that concern.)
Customers will be offered the loungewear set upon boarding so they can change at their leisure and maximise comfort for the full duration of the flight. On flights of nine hours or more, flyers will receive the full set with loungewear top and pants, slippers and eye mask, while on flights that have a duration of two hours and 30 minutes, customers will receive free slippers and eye mask sets.
