AllTrails announces Claude integration
AllTrails has partnered with Anthropic to bring conversational outdoor trip planning to the Claude AI assistant.
Outdoor navigation platform AllTrails has launched a new integration with Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude, allowing users to plan hiking trips and outdoor adventures through conversational prompts.
The partnership introduces AllTrails into Claude’s growing ecosystem of connected services, enabling people to search for trails, build itineraries and receive customised outdoor recommendations simply by describing what they are looking for in natural language. The development follows an earlier integration with ChatGPT.
Rather than relying on traditional search filters, users can ask Claude detailed questions about the kind of outdoor experience they want, from short family-friendly walks to multi-day hiking trips in national parks. The system then uses AllTrails’ route database and community reviews to generate tailored suggestions and practical planning advice.

According to AllTrails, the feature is designed to make outdoor planning more accessible and intuitive, particularly for travellers who may not be experienced hikers or familiar with specialist mapping tools.
Liz Hamren, CEO of AllTrails, says: “No two hikers are the same, and no two adventures need to be either. We hear every day how much time outside matters to people, and we’re excited to bring AllTrails to Claude’s millions of users. That means more people can go from ‘I’d love to go for a hike’ to actually hitting the trail.”
The integration allows users to refine recommendations through an ongoing conversation. For example, travellers can request quieter routes, easier terrain, trails suitable for dogs or children, or itineraries that avoid crowds and poor mobile reception areas.
The platform can also generate practical information including packing lists, training recommendations, permit guidance and reminders to download maps for offline navigation before leaving wifi coverage.
Suggested use cases range from planning day hikes near cities to organising more ambitious experiences such as multi-day national park itineraries or long-distance trail running challenges.

The collaboration reflects the growing role of AI assistants in travel planning, particularly as companies move beyond search-based interfaces towards more personalised and conversational recommendation systems.
Outdoor travel platforms have increasingly invested in digital tools that simplify trip planning while encouraging deeper engagement with nature-based experiences. For AllTrails, which says it now has a global community of more than 95 million users, the Claude partnership also extends its reach beyond its own app ecosystem.
The company says recommendations generated through Claude are informed by the experiences and reviews shared by hikers, walkers and trail runners on AllTrails, combining AI-generated planning with community-based insights.
Hamren adds: “Every integration we pursue has to clear the same bar: does this help more people get outside, and does it honor the values of our community that cares deeply about protecting the places we love? We believe AllTrails in Claude does both.”
