Treehotel unveils forest-level suite in Arctic Sweden

May 12, 2026

Sweden’s Treehotel is taking a more grounded architectural approach with Oasis, a new forest suite opening in August 2026 complete with a sauna and hot tub beneath the pines.

Swedish hospitality concept Treehotel is expanding its collection of architect-designed accommodation with the launch of Oasis, a new suite opening on August 10, 2026 in the forests of Harads, northern Sweden.

Known internationally for its elevated cabins suspended high among the trees, Treehotel has built its reputation on unusual architecture that blends into the Arctic landscape. Previous structures have included mirrored cubes, UFO-inspired rooms and bird’s nest-like hideaways designed by leading Scandinavian architects.

With Oasis, however, the brand is taking a different direction. Instead of lifting guests above the forest floor, the new suite is designed to sit within the woodland itself, using curved walls and natural materials to create a more enclosed and immersive experience.

Designed by Swedish architects Nadén and Lind, Oasis accommodates up to five guests and is positioned directly among the pine trees rather than above them. The structure wraps around existing trunks, allowing the forest to shape the layout of the building instead of the other way around.

According to the architects, the project aims to heighten guests’ awareness of the surrounding environment by narrowing outward views and encouraging attention towards the canopy overhead. The curved walls create sheltered spaces that frame the trees and Arctic sky, while also amplifying the sounds and scents of the forest.

Rather than offering expansive panoramic windows, the design focuses on intimacy and immersion. The intention is to create what the architects describe as a feeling of being inside the “columned halls” of the forest.

The launch reflects a broader movement within hospitality and wellness design towards quieter, lower-impact experiences rooted in nature immersion. Across Scandinavia and other remote destinations, hotels are increasingly prioritising sensory experiences, slower travel and architecture that works with the landscape rather than dominating it.

Despite its stripped-back design philosophy, Oasis includes a range of contemporary comforts. Facilities include a private sauna, eco-shower and outdoor hot tub positioned beneath the surrounding pine canopy.

Treehotel says the suite has been developed to offer year-round stays, allowing guests to experience the changing seasons of Swedish Lapland, from the midnight sun of summer through to winter snow and northern lights.

Located close to the Arctic Circle, Harads has become a destination for travellers seeking remote nature-based experiences combined with Scandinavian design. Treehotel first opened in 2010 and has since become one of Sweden’s most internationally recognised hospitality projects, attracting architecture enthusiasts as well as luxury travellers.

The addition of Oasis signals an evolution in the brand’s architectural identity. While earlier suites focused on visual spectacle and elevation, the new concept instead prioritises stillness, shelter and direct engagement with the forest floor itself.
