Sibbjäns is Sweden’s first boutique farm stay on Gotland
Sibbjäns is a regenerative farm stay on Sweden's Gotland island offering hand-crafted suites, hyper-seasonal dining and 'Viking wellness' experiences. Olivia Palamountain reports
Sibbjäns, a former horse farm on Sweden's Gotland island, will open as a boutique farm stay on April 2 after a four-year transformation by two Stockholm-based couples.
Pontus and Sanna Rönn, and Jonas Nordlander and Kina Zeidler have created a glorious 22-room escape framed by wildflowers that celebrates the natural rhythms and seasonality of this Baltic Sea island.
Rooms are spread across the Farmhouse Hotel and The Bunkhouse, each named after important women in the founders' families and friend groups. Interiors feature sheepskin throws, limewashed walls, soft palettes and contemporary art.
The various buildings were constructed using traditional methods, much of the work done by hand with the help of Erik, a local Master of Gotlandic Craft Heritage.
At the heart of Sibbjäns is a working farm, home to hens, Mangalitza pigs and sheep. Lead gardener Karin oversees meadows, vegetable beds and fruit-growing plots, with produce grown on-site and harvested seasonally. The kitchen pauses entirely during winter months when the land rests, creating what the founders describe as a true farm-to-table approach.

The wellness offering for 2026 is inspired by Nordic traditions and the physicality of outdoor life, including a hand-built yoga barn, wood-fired sauna, outdoor gym, cold-water swimming and tennis courts. The founders describe this as "Viking wellness" – elemental, grounding and quietly transformative.
Regarded as Sweden's sunniest destination, with 2153 hours of sunshine per year, Gotland's distinctive limestone landscape offers cycling and horse riding across open farmland, plus kitesurfing along the windy coastline.
Sibbjäns follows the island's natural calendar, closing entirely during dark winter months and operating from Easter until Christmas. After a soft opening to friends and family in 2025, the property now welcomes a wider community drawn to nature, food and thoughtful design.
Reaching Sibbjäns involves a short flight from Stockholm to the island's capital of Visby followed by a drive across the island, or a ferry crossing.
