Google Flight Deals harnesses AI to find cheapest travel options
Google is calling on its community to provide feedback on Flight Deals, its latest AI-powered feature that requires just a sentence description to uncover the cheapest travel options available. Olivia Palamountain reports
Flight Deals is a new, AI-powered search tool within Google Flights designed for flexible travellers whose number one goal is saving money on their next trip.
Instead of playing with different dates, destinations and filters to uncover the best deals, users describe when, where and how they would like to travel and Flight Deals takes care of the rest.
Simply type requests such as "family-friendly beach destination in Europe under £800 per person" or "romantic mountain retreat with direct flights from London this autumn." The AI scours available deals to surface ideal matches, often revealing hidden gems and unexpected bargains you might never have discovered through traditional search methods.
What makes Flight Deals unique is that it uses Google’s advanced AI to understand the nuances of what users are looking for and identify matching destinations. Then, it’ll tap into real-time Google Flights data to quickly provide relevant, up-to-date options from hundreds of airlines and booking sites.
Flight Deals is currently available in beta so that Google can gather feedback and continue to explore how AI can improve travel planning. The original Google Flights will remain - and is set to keep getting better, with Google adding a new option to exclude basic economy fares for trips in the US and Canada.
Flight Deals will roll out in the US, Canada and India imminently - no opt-in required. You’ll be able to try it out by heading straight to the Flight Deals page, or via the top-left menu on Google Flights. We hope this helps you book an amazing trip (at an amazing price), and we look forward to your feedback!
