Capella has opened its first property in Taiwan, an 86-room hotel featuring six exclusive accommodations with private pool terraces.
Capella Taipei, located on Dunhua North Road, represents what designers call a "modern mansion" concept created by celebrated interior designer André Fu in collaboration with Tokyo-based Mori Building Group.
The hotel's standout feature is its collection of six rooms with private pool terraces, offering secluded outdoor space within the dense urban environment. The main pool terrace on the 14th level provides panoramic views of the city skyline, whilst the signature Capella Suite offers direct views of Taipei 101 skyscraper."Capella Taipei represents a pivotal milestone in our strategic expansion, bringing our distinctive approach to hospitality to Taiwan's evolving luxury landscape," says Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group. "Our entrance into Taipei aligns with Taiwan's vision to elevate its position as a premier destination for discerning global travellers."
The property houses five distinct dining venues, including Ember 28 on the ground floor featuring fire-cooking techniques with 28-day dry-aged cuts, and Mizue offering intimate Japanese Omakase experiences in ryokan-inspired surroundings. Rong Ju celebrates Cantonese traditions with reimagined dim sum beneath terracotta-tiled ceilings, whilst Plume lobby lounge serves afternoon tea.
Fu's design philosophy centres on creating light-filled spaces that connect indoor and outdoor environments, using artisanal details and curated furnishings to establish refined calm within the vibrant city setting. The century-old trees lining Dunhua North Road's verdant corridor provide a European promenade atmosphere that influenced the property's aesthetic approach.
The hotel introduces Capella's signature brand programmes to Taiwan, including The Living Room guest lounge where "Capella Culturists" design bespoke experiences, and Capella Curates, offering exclusive access to local master artisans, culinary experts and historic landmarks through personalised itineraries.
Wellness facilities include the Capella Spa with barrel-vaulted ceilings designed to evoke ascending serenity, drawing inspiration from celestial rhythms and lunar cycles.Business facilities comprise four venues including the Grand Salon with garden views, The Gallery featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with open kitchen and wine cellar and two intimate boardrooms with curved vaulted ceilings.
Capella Taipei becomes the eighth property in the Capella Hotels and Resorts portfolio, joining locations in Singapore, Sydney, Shanghai, Hainan, Hanoi, Ubud and Bangkok. The Bangkok property recently received recognition as "World's Best Hotel" by World's 50 Best Hotels, establishing the brand's reputation for cultural authenticity and bespoke service.
