Casa Cook launches first Alpine retreat in the Dolomites

July 31, 2025

Casa Cook to debut in the Dolomites with a stylish adults-only retreat that brings laid-back luxury to the mountains. Robbie Hodges reports

Casa Cook will soon open its first mountain property, bringing its signature brand of laid-back luxury to Italy’s Dolomites. Located in the alpine village of Madonna di Campiglio, Casa Cook Madonna marks the hotel group’s expansion beyond its coastal roots in Greece and Egypt.

The new retreat is the result of a partnership with TREASURESTS Hospitality and JP Hospitality Investors Club, and is the brand’s first Italian venture. Designed exclusively for adults, the hotel is open year-round and aims to be a destination for both winter sports enthusiasts and summer hikers.

Madonna di Campiglio, known for its ski resorts and scenic beauty, provides the backdrop for the 50-room boutique property. Positioned within walking distance of ski lifts and hiking trails, the hotel offers easy access to outdoor activities including snowshoe hiking, skiing, mountain biking and climbing.

The architectural and interior design of Casa Cook Madonna follows the ethos established by Casa Collective and Vision Alphabet founder Remo Masala, who originally conceived the Casa Cook brand. Globetrender recently stayed at the Rhodes outpost of Casa Cook’s sibling brand, Cook’s Club – a hotel that caters to a younger crowd, but shares a similarly pared-back design approach.

While Casa Cook Madonna might share similarly rustic materials and natural textures, belying the property’s neutral appearance is a reverence for historic alpine traditions as well as Masala’s own childhood memories of mountain holidays.

Stone, timber and travertine feature prominently throughout the property, with interiors grounded in an earthy colour palette that mirrors the surrounding landscape. Wool, linen and organic fabrics contribute to a tactile, calming environment, while large windows frame mountain views from almost every angle.

Sustainability has been a key focus in the development of Casa Cook Madonna. Local craftspeople have been employed to create handmade finishes, while the use of regional materials supports both the environment and community. Thermal insulation and low-impact design principles were integrated from the start to ensure year-round efficiency.

The hotel’s communal areas are intended to shift with the seasons. In winter, interiors feel cocooning and warm, with soft lighting and heavy textiles. In summer, doors open to terraces and fresh alpine air, offering guests a seamless indoor-outdoor lifestyle.

A key highlight of Casa Cook Madonna is its culinary offering. The on-site restaurant features a menu curated by Dutch chef Jacob Jan Boerma, whose accolades include three Michelin stars. The menu reflects seasonal ingredients and Italian alpine flavours, served in a setting that is intentionally pared-back and relaxed.

Wellness is another focal point of the guest experience. Facilities include a fully equipped gym, a spa with treatment rooms, a sauna, and an innovative boot room designed to support guests after days spent outdoors. Daily yoga sessions are offered for recovery and relaxation.

With its location in one of Italy’s most celebrated mountain regions and an approach that balances design with a sense of place, Casa Cook Madonna is positioned as a retreat for all seasons. The emphasis on simplicity, craftsmanship, and immersion in nature aligns with the evolving preferences of luxury travellers seeking mindful escapes in authentic settings.

Casa Cook Madonna is slated to open in August 2025 and is accepting reservations year-round.
