Rome Airports (Aeroporti di Roma) has announced a new partnership with Be My Eyes to provide innovative accessibility technology for blind and visually impaired passengers at Rome's Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
Be My Eyes is an app made up of a global community that connects people who are blind or have low vision with sighted volunteers and company representatives through a live video call.
The collaboration will integrate Be My Eyes' Service Connect platform into ADR's existing accessibility services, offering real-time assistance through a combination of artificial intelligence and dedicated service agents via the Be My Eyes app.
The app harnesses the power of generosity, technology and human connection to help blind and low-vision people lead more independent lives. Be My Eyes is accessible in more than 150 countries worldwide and in over 180 languages. The app is free and available for both iOS and Android.
"We take great pride in being a leader in accessibility and innovation," says Marina Maschio, managing director, ADR Assistance. "Partnering with Be My Eyes allows us to further enhance the experience for our blind and visually-impaired passengers, ensuring they receive the same level of service and care that every traveller deserves at Fiumicino and Ciampino airports."
Mike Buckley, CEO of Be My Eyes, says: "Travel should be accessible to everyone, and our partnership with Aeroporti di Roma brings us closer to that goal. By integrating AI-powered tools and human support, we're ensuring blind and low-vision travellers can navigate the airport with greater ease and confidence."
The initiative represents ADR's ongoing commitment to innovation and accessibility as core elements of its mission, aiming to set new standards for inclusive travel experiences in the aviation industry.
