Nature-immersive theme park to open in Okinawa, Japan

A nature-centric theme park is set to open in Okinawa this summer, offering hot-air balloon rides, treetop trekking and a geothermal spa. Olivia Palamountain reports

A new, nature-immersive theme park called Junglia Okinawa will open in Japan on July 25 this year, in the heart of Okinawa's Yambaru Forest, an area partially recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Developed by Japan Entertainment Inc on a former golf course, the park's design draws heavy inspiration from the region's spectacular subtropical rainforests, aiming to create harmony between entertainment and natural surroundings.

Visitors will have access to several signature attractions, including a hot-air balloon ride called "Horizon Balloon" offering 360-degree views of verdant forests and emerald seas.Junglia Okinawa Other features include a Dinosaur Safari that takes passengers through a savannah to encounter prehistoric creatures, and a Tree-Top Trekking experience across jungle suspension bridges.

The park will also house deluxe wellness facilities, with a spa featuring outdoor infinity pools overlooking forest and mountain vistas, plus calcium baths, cave baths, natural hot springs and saunas.Junglia OkinawaDining options will include the Panorama Restaurant serving Okinawan cuisine from "floating" nest-like seating areas perched above the treeline. A second venue called Wild Banquet will offer alfresco dining surrounded by tropical plants, where guests can enjoy local specialities prepared in a theatre-style kitchen.

Located approximately 1.5 hours north of Naha Airport, Junglia Okinawa will be accessible by car with on-site parking available.
