Airbnb reveals spring travel trends for 2025
According to new data from Airbnb, 'soft travel', longer stays and pet-inclusive holidays are emerging as key trends for spring 2025. Olivia Palamountain reports
Airbnb has released a round up of data-driven insights that shed light on spring 2025 travel trends.
The accommodation platform reports a 90% increase in solo travel searches for spring dates compared to last year, with these independent adventurers seeking "soft travel" - slower-paced trips focused on leisure and wellbeing.
Solo travellers are taking considerably longer breaks, averaging 17 nights away compared to just 9 nights for couples and 8 nights for families. Many are also bringing their pets along, with searches for pet-friendly accommodation rising 30% overall compared to spring 2024, and solo travellers showing the most significant increase at over 40%.
Countryside escapes have gained popularity this spring, while trending destinations include both vibrant cultural hubs and picturesque coastal towns, from Ubatuba, Brazil to Basel, Switzerland.
Family travel remains strong during school breaks, with particular interest in destinations offering family-friendly events and activities, such as Cologne Carnival in Germany and the Ubatuba Aquarium in Brazil.
The data suggests a broader shift towards more personalised vacation experiences that cater to different group sizes and preferences, with travellers increasingly prioritising self-reflection, cultural immersion and quality time with family - including their four-legged members.
