A new private island retreat is set to open in Norway's Lofoten archipelago, offering luxury adventure seekers an exclusive base for exploring the Arctic wilderness.

Brakøya, meaning "North of Everything," will feature five suites and bungalows when it opens in February 2025.

The intimate resort combines soft adventure activities with eco-conscious luxury, including summit-to-ski tours, seaweed harvesting, fjord kayaking and foraging expeditions.  Brakøya
The property's semi-open kitchen, equipped with a wood-fired oven and Tuscan grill, will host visiting chefs creating seasonal menus with locally sourced ingredients. All meals and premium wines are included in guests stay. Facilities, meanwhile, include a suspended seafront sauna, beach lounge and library.

Sustainability features prominently in the design, with locally sourced spruce and repurposed Norway maple used in construction. The resort operates on solar power during summer months, switching to wood-fire heating in winter.BrakøyaThe retreat is being launched by luxury travel curator Up Norway as a new way to experience the Lofoten archipelago.

Also currently on offer through Up Norway is a wholesome programme of experiential rural tours (designed following UNESCO's recognition of Norway's summer farming traditions), a series of unique journeys that capture the spirit of Norwegian Easter, from ski touring and cabin stays to cosy fireside moments complete with traditional snacks, and Scandi wellness escapes.
