The Art'otel Rome Piazza Sallustio, opening on March 6, 2025, will showcase works by acclaimed Roman contemporary artist Pietro Ruffo throughout its 99 rooms and public spaces.
Located near the ancient Horti Sallustiani, the hotel will house the largest permanent collection of Ruffo's work to date.
The artist, recently named Italy's Artist of the Year for 2024 by Inside Art magazine, has created pieces inspired by Rome's layered history."The collection of art'otel unfolds stories of the different historical layers that have built Rome past and future, creating a meeting of nature, people, and stars on every surface and around every corner," says Ruffo, whose studio is housed in a former Roman pasta factory.
The hotel will feature a restaurant and bar with a ground floor terrace, an art gallery hosting rotating exhibitions, and cultural programming through its "art'beat" initiative. Interior design has been led by Eyal Shoan of Digital Space.
"Rome is often described as an open-air museum, and our art'otel adds to this with innovation and a contemporary edge," says general manager Diego Di Gaetano. "Every corner of the hotel's design will feature Ruffo's art, creating an immersive and sexy contrast between its modernity and the city's timeless charm."Greg Hegarty, co-chief executive officer at PPHE Hotel Group, which owns the Art'otel brand, describes the opening as "a milestone moment." The Rome location joins existing Art'otels in London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zagreb, and Cologne.
The opening coincides with Rome's Jubilee year, which TimeOut has named the best thing to do in the world in 2025.
