The Berkeley launches ski gondola dining experience
London's The Berkeley hotel is bringing alpine dining to its Knightsbridge rooftop this winter with custom-made ski gondolas overlooking Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland. Olivia Palamountain reports
Feast Off-Piste is a brand-new dining experience from Feast Events, now open at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, London. Taking pride of place on the hotel’s rooftop, the immersive dining pop up features an alpine menu served inside custom-made ski gondolas.
Whilst the gondolas remain stationary, diners’ tastebuds will be taken on a festive journey surrounded by snow-dusted alpine trees and twinkling lights and overlooking Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
Running until January 1, Feast Off Piste offers a sharing-style menu featuring Swiss raclette served with sourdough, charcuterie and pickles, truffle-topped tartiflette, and winter salad with chicory, butternut squash and pomegranate. Desserts include milk chocolate fondue with fruit, sweet treats and an edible candle for dipping, and gingerbread s'mores. The experience begins with mulled wine (or non-alcoholic cider) before guests are whisked to the rooftop, passing artist Chiara Perano's mural inspired by London's sky blues and park greens.
Each gondola features a "ring for Champagne" bell, with Laurent-Perrier available alongside winter cocktails including Black Forest Espresso Martini, Aperol Negroni Sour and Blackberry Margarita.Created by Feast Events founders Sarah and Neal Dove (formerly of Cliveden and The Lanesborough), the pop-up follows their successful summer venture "Feast on Cloud 9" at The Grove in Hertfordshire, which returns next May offering dining in a hot air balloon.
Groups of 4-6 can choose from four daily sittings (12-2pm, 3-5pm, 6-8pm and 9-11pm) with optional pre-dining drinks on the lower terrace. The experience is priced at £75 per person.
