Flash Pack, the adventure travel company specialising in group trips for solo travellers in their 30s and 40s, has unveiled a new range of alcohol-free itineraries catering to the rising sobriety movement.
The new programme will offer unique experiences in Iceland, Bali, and Puerto Rico, identified as prime 'dry-destinations' for wellness-focused adventures.
Bookings for these new itineraries will open ahead of "Sober September", with departures scheduled for "Dry January". The decision to introduce these trips comes after company insights revealed that 60% of their clientele, known as "Flashpackers", consider themselves either light or non-drinkers.
Lee Thompson, co-founder and CMO of Flash Pack, explains the motivation behind the new offerings: "The sober movement has grown dramatically alongside the solo travel boom, and both expand perspectives on what it means to be happy and fulfilled. Our adventures have always been a friendly, open and inclusive atmosphere for like-minded travellers to bond, but these new trips offer a hyper-focused community for travellers who are sober or sober curious."The alcohol-free trips will maintain Flash Pack's signature blend of cultural immersion, bucket list adventures and authentic connections, but with an added emphasis on wellness.
The Bali itinerary, priced at £3,040 for 12 days, includes activities such as a purification ritual in an ancient temple, flying yoga in a private riverside studio, and learning to craft Jamu, a traditional Indonesian herbal drink. In Iceland, travellers can expect a five-day adventure for £3,200, featuring private super Jeep expeditions, glacier hikes and non-alcoholic spirit tastings atop a glacier. The five-day Puerto Rico trip, priced at £2,155, offers experiences such as kayaking in bioluminescent bays and mocktail tastings.Adding star power to the initiative, renowned celebrity sobriety coach Bob Marier will lead Flash Pack's inaugural alcohol-free trip to Bali.
With more than two decades of personal sobriety, Marier brings valuable expertise to create a supportive atmosphere for sober-curious travellers.Reflecting on his own journey, Marier states: "Choosing sobriety has not only opened up a new world to me but also transformed how I experience travel. I used to see places like Rome from the confines of a bar, missing out on the true beauty and culture around me. Now, I wake up early, explore, and immerse myself in every moment at every destination. It's incredible how much more there is to experience when you're fully present and embracing every opportunity to explore."
