StandardX is a rebellious sibling brand for Standard International hotels, now making its debut in Melbourne. Olivia Palamountain reports

The StandardX, Melbourne opens its doors on August 8, bringing its hotel “x-factor” to the city’s hip Fitzroy district.

The inaugural hotel for Standard International’s X brand, further locations are set rolled out in only the grooviest locations around the world (Bangkok is next on the roster).

The Aussie outpost is modelled on the avant-garde values of the original Standard Hollywood and plays on Fitzroy’s rich bohemian history, from its post-punk Little Band scene to its thriving music venues, street art and café culture. The StandardX MelbourneExecutive chef Justin Dingle-Garciyya will helm the hotel’s dining venues.
