Dubai takes the top spot in trending TikTok locations for travel content creators looking to impress their followers. Olivia Palamountain reports
Dubai has emerged as the most popular location for TikTok users to capture video content, according to recent hashtag data analysed by Sim Local, a travel SIM card and eSIM retailer.
The famously cosmopolitan lifestyle and impressive skylines of the UAE city have propelled it to the top spot with 168.5K posts under the hashtag #visitdubai.
Following closely behind is Bali, securing the second position with 132.5K posts showcasing its lush jungles and gorgeous beaches.
Mexico rounds out the top three, with 123.8K posts highlighting its diverse landscapes and vibrant culture under the hashtag #visitmexico.
The findings were based on official tourism board hashtags taken from travellers’ most cherished locations around the globe for 2024, according to online travel comparison guide website TripAdvisor.
Other popular destinations included London, Greece, Rome, Paris, Marrakech, Hanoi, and Vietnam.

The rise in travel-related TikTok content coincides with the growing market for travel SIMs and eSIMs.
Research by Juniper projects this market to grow from US$1.7 billion in 2024 to US$8.7 billion by 2028, driven by the increasing number of international travellers and the convenience of eSIM technology.
