Complete with a hydrotherapy facility, sensory showers and mega spa, Aman is putting ultra-wellness at the heart of its debut New York City hotel. Rose Dykins reports
Luxury accommodation brand Aman Resorts is making its debut in the Big Apple with the opening of Aman New York in spring 2021.
In keeping with the Aman brand, the new flagship property will focus on holistic wellbeing, with its cutting-edge 2,300 sqm spa. This will be the brand’s second “urban wellness” concept since it launched the Aman Tokyo in 2014.
Situated at the crossroads between Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, Aman New York will occupy Manhattan’s Crown Building – and will open in line with the structure’s 100th anniversary.
Each of the hotel’s 83 rooms and suites will be at least 70 sqm in size – a generous amount of space for Manhattan – and have its own working fireplace.
The property will also have 22 private residences – more than half of these have already been sold – and a five-storey penthouse.
The three-storey spa will be Aman’s flagship wellness centre in the Western hemisphere. There will be three rooms for consultations, examinations and therapy, and seven spa treatment suites.
The Banya and Hammam spa houses will each have their own private outdoor relaxation terraces complete with hot and cold plunge pools.
The 20-metre indoor swimming pool will be lined with fire pits and double day beds. The Aman fitness centre will feature Technogym equipment and there will also be a yoga studio, a hydrotherapy facility with saunas, steam rooms, ice fountains and sensory showers, as well as a barbers and a hair and nail salon.
The Wine Library will be available for private tastings and events, and the property’s signature Italian restaurant will offer all-day dining, and have a wraparound garden terrace with views of Central Park.
Following its New York debut, Aman Resorts also plans to launch three new resorts in Saudi Arabia by 2023.
