From vegan leather headboards to eucalyptus bedding, The BoTree hotel deploys ethical interior design and curation. Gemma Harris reports
With a commitment to deliver what “conscious luxury”, The BoTree is underpinned by “mindful choices” throughout its 199 rooms and 30 suites. (London’s new 1 Hotel is also spearheading sustainable luxury, indicating an emerging trend.)
Opened in London’s Marylebone in September, The BoTree’s vision is rooted in a “purpose-driven” philosophy embedding environmental considerations without sacrificing luxury.
Adopting new technology and digitisation has facilitated its pledge to reduce its resource and carbon footprint. For example, hotel information and menus are all accessed on the TV.
The hotel’s design, courtesy of EPR Architects, aligns with the architectural character of Marylebone Lane and Welbeck Street with its inviting façade.
Meanwhile, thanks to the Amsterdam-based Concrete, the interiors have been styled with a contemporary twist, adorned with bold colours but complemented by natural materials and delicate lighting.
Headed up by Sachdev’s experienced leadership team and seamlessly run by staff 24/7, The BoTree ensures a personalised service for guests.
The 199 en suite rooms (starting from £660) feature vegan leather headboards, eucalyptus Tencel bedding, Jasper Conran Wedgewood tea sets and stylish Alessi kettles.
For those guests seeking additional space, there are 30 suites complete with entertaining and relaxing areas, including a lounge, personal bar and cocktail station. The largest suite has an outdoor terrace; combined with adjoining suites, it can create a larger wing, ideal for a group stay. Suites start from £820.
The hotel’s bar provides an extensive drink list and further dining with its bar menu featuring luxury dishes such as the caviar sandwich with egg salad.
The BoTree is poised to expand its amenities with an additional development comprising a unique space with a private bar, wellness space and rooftop area with panoramic views across the prestigious neighbourhoods.
Future properties from the Place III group have been planned to open in more top London locations, including Brickmaker’s Yard in Soho in 2025 and the CTQ in Holborn Viaduct, due in 2027.
The BoTree is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend Collection.
