Unveiled in February, Dubai’s eye-catching Museum of the Future heralds a ‘new era of edutainment’ with cutting-edge, immersive exhibitions. Jenny Southan reports
“The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create.” These are the words written in Arabic calligraphy by Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej that are carved into the exterior of the orb-shaped seven-storey Museum of the Future.
An example of how Dubai is investing in culture in a similar way to neighbouring Doha and Abu Dhabi, the Museum of the Future is not only a phenomenal piece of architecture but a thought-provoking visitor attraction that seeks to “answer several pressing questions related to the future of humanity, cities, human societies and life on planet Earth”.
Exhibitions such as “Tomorrow Today” showcase the ever-evolving innovations that could change our world and highlight the technology that has the power to transform and change the way we live.
The exhibition explores how designers, researchers and corporations are responding to the urgent challenges that our planet faces and what can be done to lead to an optimistic and positive future.
The venue also welcomes children with its dedicated “Future Heroes” space, which encourages children to learn through the world of play, while also being encouraged to develop future-proof skills that will be useful.
Tickets from £30 per person (children under three can enter free).
